George Santayanna, a noted philosopher, coined the phrase: "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." How many of us on this board believe this is true? The Jews certainly have made an extensive effort to keep the world abreast of their Holocaust. Today in St. Petersburg, Florida such a remembrance is taking place. See "To reflect, to remember. Several Holocaust survivors will be featured today in a remembrance of the millions who died in the Nazi pogram of World War II." This is all fine and good while there are remaining survivors, but what will happen when they are all gone? Even while they are still here, Holocaust deniers continue to challenge their claims. And we have had even more recent Holocausts (the Khmer Rouge and the Cambodians, the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda.} Blacks will not let us forget slavery in the U.S.A., but this has not eradicated slavery everywhere. So how effect do you think are these days of remembrance?
