I have been saying numerous bad things about a "Witness" these past few days, it's time to say something "good".

I am an Artist and Teach at the College level. One of my favorite "genre" of art is "allegory", the reprentation of religious themes. The "art work" used in the Watchtower is of high quality. I have had the opportunity(through friends that were Witnesses) to visit the Societies "art department" and see how the pictures/paintings were produced in Patterson, New York.

Although the articles repeat themselves and are at about a Middle School reading level, the "Art Work" they use is definately at a College Level, showing a high level of skill!

High level of skill in trying to scare the crap out of people maybe. I always thought there art was cheese.

Oh and for some other "gems"

Not to purposely contradict you and not that I have any credentials, but . . .

It seems to me that their art is cartoon-like and looks a bit as though it were produced in the 60s. When I was a JW, it was often a bit of embarrassment to me. Sometimes their art is disproportional and the colors seem garish to me. There's no subtleness to it.

To be fair - some of it is rather good. I agree.

I totally agree with this. Especially during the 70's and 80's...it was hard to drag some of the mags out to a householder while in service.....it WAS embarrassing and looked "cheesy" somehow.

It also ALWAYS gave me the "willies" and I could never figure out WHY...some of those pctures made me very uneasy! NOW I know WHY...with all those subliminal "mistakes" scattered throughout them!

    YUCK!!!!

    hugs,

    Annie

Yes, some of the artwork is rather good and does show skill on the part of the artist. It wasn't always thus, and for the most part, the art work was really terrible.

I invite you to read Dave Malone's story: My Two Week Consulting Trip To Bethel. Great stuff.
