Al Qaeda And "The Organisation".

    Just wondering.

Today's Sunday Times, which is unfortunately no longer on line unless a ridiculous fee is paid, featured an article about a young British Moslem.

He claimed that he had been approached by Al Qaeda in 2000. He said that they targeted young Moslem men with money problems, normally as a result of gambling. He'd agreed to join and spent time working on 767 simulators before being sent to New York for further training with other recruits.

Upon arrival, he'd chickened out and legged it to Las Vegas. He promptly blew the £5000 given to him by "The Organisation", as he referred to Al Qaeda. After he'd blown his money, he decided to tell the FBI what he knew, and they took him into protective custody and interrogated him for around 3 weeks. After this time he was shipped home to the UK whereupon the UK Secret Service carelessly lost him.

He's now racked with feelings of guilt. Hmm.

However, the article commented that many crooked and devious set-ups such as Al Qaeda and the Mafia spoke about their controllers as being "The Organisation".

For some reason the term "The Organisation" rings a bell, but I just can't seem to place it.

Of course the "organization" targets people with problems--those "sighing and crying," because few people who are reasonably happy will want to join.

Kind of reminds me of the movie/series "La Femme Nikita." She was a troubled youth who faced prison time, or joining an org that gave her a food and a roof over her head. She soon learned the drawbacks, of course. She assumed a totally new identity and had to supress her normal human emotions to do the will of the top secret organization.

Very similar to "putting on a new personality."
