I heard somewhere this song was about the Truth Book, does anyone have
    any feedback about this?

    CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION
I look over yonder, what do I see?
The sun is risin', most definately.
A new day's comin', people are changin',
    Ain't it beautiful?

Better get ready, gonna see the light,
Love, love is the answer, that's all right.
So don't you give up now, so easy to find.
Just look at your soul, open your mind.
    Crystal Blue Persuasion

Crystal Blue Persuasion, uh huh, it's a new vibration
Crystal Blue Persuasion, Crystal Blue Persuasion

Maybe tomorrow, when he looks down,
On every green field and every town,
All of his children of every nation
There'll be peace and good, brotherhood,
    Crystal Blue Persuasion, yeah!
    Crystal Blue Persuasion, uh huh.

    Nah,
I think Tommy James just took the blue pill.

But then again the song "I think were alone now"

    Big Jim,

When I was visiting my folks down in Florida, a single young pioneer brother told me he thought, but wasn't sure, that Tommy James had received a Truth book (with the deep blue cover) and this song was the result. I have no proof of this. It could be just an urban legend.

"Crystal" was one of many brand-names for LSD. I know that "crystal" now commonly refers to speed, but before the meth labs made "crystal meth" a household word in suburbia and urbia in the 70's, Crystal Blue was the name of a type of acid.

For the young ones who don't know, so was Purple Haze (study Jimi's lyrics). Also, LSD-25 was a kind of LSD supposedly made legally in government laboratories. The story was that it was stolen from the labs in bulk quantities by workers there, and made available on the street. At any rate, it was pretty strong stuff, and supposedly pure, not mixed with speed like most acid was. It was good for a 10-hour trip, and was the inspiration for the song, "25, or 6 to 4," 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM being the duration and logical timespan of a trip on LSD-25.

P.S. Should I try to do some more?

Thanks COMF for the eye-opening info.

That song "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago never made sense to me before. I always thought it was the answer to the question raised in their other song, "Does Anybody Know What Time It Is?"

"Me, The Mob, and The Music". This is the book Tommy James wrote. It was well written and left nothing out about his music career. He tells what the motivation was for Crystal Blue Persuasion. Do a little research on your own with Google. It's as simple as that.

This line alone should tell you it has nothing to do with jw's- "Just look at your soul, open your mind"

Musicians routinely denied dug or sexual inuendo existed in their music, while their target audience understood. In this case he claimed to have gotten the inspiration from reading Revelation. I don't see a problem with both being true. Reading Revelation while on acid might be the secret to understanding it. lol

It sure does seem as if whoever wrote it was tripping hardcore at the time...
