This might be the case to which you refer, although it was the FAMILY of the JW who sued after an operation went terribly wrong. The doctor was found 55% at fault and the family 45% at fault.

NEWS FROM ACROSS MISSOURI
CLAYTON
? The family of a Jehovah's Witness who refused a blood transfusion and died after surgery in November 2001 won a lawsuit against a surgeon who operated on her.
A St. Louis County Circuit Court jury on Friday awarded $412,500 to the family of Linda Grissom. The lawsuit was against Ronald Gaskin, the surgeon who cut Grissom's aorta when she was having her gallbladder removed and repaired the wound during the operation.
However, Grissom could not then have blood transfusions because that would have been contrary to her beliefs.
Gaskin acknowledged he had cut or nicked arteries in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and took a voluntary suspension of privileges at a medical center for a little over two months in 1998.
In the ruling, the jury awarded total damages of $750,000, but found the surgeon only 55 percent at fault and the family 45 percent at fault.Alvin A. Wolff Jr., representing Grissom's family, said the surgery was supposed to be bloodless.

The Doctor seems to have trouble holding on to the scalpel! He was going to get sued either way. If he saved her with blood or not!
If I where a Doctor I would not operate on JW's. The malpractice insurance has to be horrid. I know one Doctor who pays over two hundred thousands dollars a year for the insurance alone! The Doctor 's insurance should sue the WTS for selling phony God insurance without a license! This girl died for nothing! Maverick
Thank you so much!..
From what I have heard in Missouri..you can have 'Bloodless Surgery" but the Drs. are usually ones that have been sued before for malpractice or aren't very good Drs to start with.
When I was a witness ..I was referred to a Dr that "Respected" the JW view on blood. Well..after I let him operate on me (with many complications.).I found out his nickname was "Dr Butcher"..
I think all his patients were Jw's..no one else would go to him...
