NEW YORK -- It's not made of gold -- just eggs, lobster, caviar and a few trimmings. But an omelet on the menu of a swank Manhattan hotel will set you back $1,000, plus tip.

But the restaurant's management insists the omelet isn't just a gimmick -- they say it tastes good too.
A "budget" version of the omelet, containing only one ounce of caviar, sells for $100.
By Monday, no one had yet ordered the $1,000 version.
Seriously, I flipped out because my medicine cost 100 dollars. But 1000 for eggs? I could put that down for a new car. Pay my bills for a month. One months rent, with change.
