Hmmmmm another long shot question.
Right. Does anyone know where I can get a quotation for a full shipping container from Vancouver Island to the nearest UK container port preferably Cardiff in Wales, or do you have any idea how much this might be and how long a full container might take to cover that distance?
I understand that upon the shores of Vancouver Island you have millions of tons of driftwood coating your shorelines, many of these peices wonderfully sculptured by wind and salt water. Specifically, I would be seeking driftwood up to 6-8' in length, the more unusual the sculpturing by nature, the better, also of course to plug the gaps in the container load, many smaller specimens to fill the container itself chock a block.
Here in the UK there is a huge at present virtually untapped market for these peices and they fetch on average £4 - 600 each. I'm just wondering if it would be cost effective or not to import them here, i.e 12 containers or so per annum for starters. Of course all peices would have to be graded, sorted and pressure washed before entering UK waters.
In the garden design centres, these are a very much sought after commodity.
A long shot I believe, but hopefully someone here might come up with a solution, perhaps dispel the container as a mode of transportation, instead a partial or full ship bunker or hold.
Any suggestions welcome.
Yours faithfully
