Yikes, she was young!!
She was related to my mother, a distant cousin. (8th cousin, which means that 8 generations back their ancestors were first cousins) I told you it was distant.

Mulan,
Let Englishman know of your kinship to the Royals; he can add your name on the list of those in the ascension line to the throne; shown on another post.
...and to think that us humble Americans have been emailing with Royalty....how common

We connect to them through my father too, but it is really wayyyyyy back. Dad is 18th cousin to the current Queen of England.
Mom connects through Diana's maternal grandfather, so not really royalty.
My information, in my family genalogy stuff says Frances Ruth Burke Roche (Shand-Kydd) was born in 1936. Doesn't that make her nearly 77 or 78? Not 67.

No Mulan, it makes her 67. All that royal inbreeding must be bad for the arithmetical brain!

Did you know that almost everyone in the world is related to William the Conqueror? (1066)
Because every generation that you trace backwards doubles at each step, you eventually find that anyone who lived over 700 or 800 years ago was a many times removed cousin.

Yes, I read a column in the newspaper about 8 years ago, that said if you go back 25 generations, (roughly 800 years) we would all connect to one another as cousins, or something like that. I used to have that item on my computer, but alas, it is in the nether regions.

I hope you're not related through Frances' mother's side - Lady Fermoy was a hard faced dynastic bitch, which I'm sure neither of you tow ladies are!
