Any Storytellers in your Family?

  My mom's dad was a regular cut up..........he took great delight in telling us two girls tall tales just to see our eyes bug out of our heads! For example, he told us about these cows they called "Side Hill Wampuses" They could stand on the sides of steep hills because two legs on one side of their body were so short, the legs on the other side were regular length. That way they didn't fall over while eating. Then there was the Giant Owl who lived in the woods near their house........(they lived in the Adirondack Mts.) He would come swooping out of the woods at night, and pick the roof up with his gigantic claws and try to grab you........this story got him into major trouble with my Grandmother who had to bring my hysterical sister home in the middle of the night because she wouldn't stay in the house~LMAO!!! Then, there was the Agrapelder........it was like a Catepillar, just bigger..........we even named one of our cats after that beastie. One more cute Grandpaism........when it was time to go to bed, we'd make the rounds, like most kids, giving them a goodnight kiss.......well, Grandpa would take his tongue and make a bump on his cheek. You had to kiss him on that bump, but, the bump moved all over the place!!!

  my grandad on my mothers side (her stepfather) used to tell us war stories, a lot of day to day life stuff, the navy got the gravy and the army got beans beans beans! this was in poland, then he was captured and so we got stories about doing hard labour in prisoner of war camps, he used to show us the scars on his hands from breaking rocks, then he would tell us how he and his friend stole a german plane, his friend spoke german so they fooled the german air traffic controllers, and flew to scotland, somehow got there safely then came down into england, met my grandma and lived life out until his death.

  Any Storytellers in your Family?

  Well my son and youngest daughter are some of the best "storytellers" I have ever encountered!

  I remember a really good storyteller when I was young. It was brown, and when you opened it up, there were yellow tapes inside that had "My Book of Bible Stories" written in red ink.

  Other than that, not much, however, the best stories are the true ones. My father would tell us stories about the farm which weren't too bad. He told me about when he was a teenager, him and a couple of his brothers dis-assembled a farmer's wagon, and then re-assembled it on top of the farmer's barn.

  My brother's also really good at telling stories. Me and him can sit around swapping hilarious stories for hours about how we screwed around in school (we didn't go to the same school).

  Then there's my mother who likes telling stories about her ex-husband and her childhood. Unfortunately, those stories aren't really amusing, and I've heard them way too many ****ing times. However, it's amusing how she'll tell a story about my childhood and get most of it wrong. "Oh you were just a baby then! You wouldn't remember that!" "Mom, I was 12 years old when that happened."
