View from the inside: Other Christian churches

The following are common JW misconceptions about other Christian churches. Interestingly, the opinions are never refuted and develop into "facts" that "prove" Christendom (non-JW) is a joke.

    1) Churches are too emotional. How many fruits of the spirit are emotions? And when did Christain meetings become a college class?

    2) They never discuss deep scriptual topics. False, many churches conduct a mid-week bible study that does just that.

    3) They use their choirs or invite music groups to hype the audience into a frenzy. And what are those fellows doing on the inside of your songbook? Can you imagine if a JW congregation sang like that?

    5) They do not go door-to-door. Maybe not that ritual, but I wonder why many of these churches are growing while JWs are stagnant/declining? Do not forget that Baptists, Penticostals and other religions have an active missionary core as well (not to mention Adventists).

    6) They do not disfellowship members who violate Bible principles. No, instead they keep the weak close, like a lost sheep, remember that parable?

Just a reality check for those on the outside. By no means am I advocating these other religions. Just remember that JWs are deluding themselves about their "spiritual paradise" by demonizing their church-going neighbors.

Never heard this one. And for JWs meetings are a college class. "The only school you never graduate from"

Only version I heard is basicaly they don't turn bible trivia into doctrine.

Never heard this. The closest thing is they entertain and praise more than "teach". Some JWs feel that making worship entertaining in general is disrespectful. We had a so tha baned jokes, funny illustrations, and one liners in talks.

    5) They do not go door-to-door. Maybe not that ritual, but I wonder why many of these churches are growing while JWs are stagnant/declining? Do not forget that Baptists, Penticostals and other religions have an active missionary core as well (not to mention Adventists).

True but i notice they feel the churches are "copying" them too.

I have heard this. But it is mostly from people on the other side of the table. Or people that survived a DFing. Mostly people taking their own personal experences and prejudices instead of examining policy.

Actually I think the JWs are correct but it is bacause many are ex catholics. Also they seem to have made a composite church using the weaknesses of many faiths instead of attack each faith individually. As you see the latter requires research outside the wts to do mostly but doing things that could be looked on as interfaith a potential DAing offense.

XQ: You make a great point that most JWs are from ex-Catholic backgrounds. They have no clue what the inside of a Protestant church is like. Rarely do JWs recruit from the groups mentioned above. On the other hand ex-JWs commonly adopt Fundamental teachings. hmmm....
