For several years now I have been paying about $19 a year to Yahoo! for an expanded email box with 25MB of storage. Today I got an email from them with the following message... sounds like a good deal to me!

Notice: Your Extra Storage service has been improved

Dear Yahoo! Mail Extra Storage Subscriber,

Thanks for being a loyal Yahoo! Mail user. To show our appreciation, we've expanded your Extra Storage service to include all the benefits of the improved Yahoo! Mail Plus, at no additional cost. Yahoo! Mail Plus includes:
    • Virus scanning and cleaning provided by Norton AntiVirus?*
    • SpamGuard Plus, a personalized spam filtering system
    • No promotional taglines in messages you send
    • No graphical ads
    • Total message size of 10MB, including attachments
    • 2GB of email storage
At the end of your current billing cycle, unless you cancel before that date, your Mail Plus service will auto-renew at $19.99/year**.

Thanks for using Yahoo! Mail, and we hope you enjoy the additional features now available to you. For more information, please click here.

    Sincerely,
    The Yahoo! Mail Team
Important Note if you're also a POP Access and Forwarding Subscriber: In the next 2 weeks, you will automatically receive a pro-rata refund for the discontinuation of your Yahoo! Mail Pop Access and Forwarding subscription. We are giving you this pro-rata refund because your Extra Storage service has been expanded to include the benefits of the improved Yahoo! Mail Plus, including POP Access and Forwarding, and you will no longer require a separate service to receive this benefit.

Yeah ... but GMail is free

Seriously, it's a sign of healthy competition that all these companies are uping the ante but the reality is that no one is going to use up 2Gb or even 1Gb of storage with anything useful (I think).

So i would suggest to get a new free Yahoo! with now 100MB and save $19.99

have they removed they spying facility from gmail? i remember reading that within gmail they had embedded an application/script that 'read' (scanned/recorded) the emails you send and recieve, supposedly for 'advertising' purposes, i remember there was a shitstorm about privacy laws being breached.

You should be a SBC/Yahoo DSL customer. I get a 2GB of storage for free...effective immediately. All of Yahoo has increased the storage space.
