jewelry mishap - too funny

I went to visit an old friend yesterday who was in town visiting. He's like a second dad to me. He was never a JW but his wife is a long time faithful witness. I haven't spoken to her in years (since I was DF'd), but she was in town with him and wanted to see the kids so she and he invited me over. Normally he is in town by himself and we always get together. If it had been just her I'd say "get lost" - but he's such a kind and sweet man so I went over.

She was very friendly when I first got there, gave me a hug and said hi, then looked at my face kind of funny and was instantly cold - for the rest of the visit. I thought it odd - until I came home and went into the bathroom....

I had worn my cross earings that day ....TO FUNNY!

I'm sure that along with the comment I made to him about my daughter's bible school activities really set her off!

I did something similar. I wore a necklace with a cross in it (there was other stuff, too) to my mom's house...she commented on the necklace being nice just so I would realize I had it on. At first I thought she may not have noticed the cross part but I have no doubt that she did.

hehe, oh well.....

That is quite funny. You probably didn't even think much about your jewelry, like most people do anyhow. Amazing how when we leave the cult things that we never would have even imagined doing now are almost second nature.
when I visit my mother, I always have to remind myself to remove the infant Jesus medal on my chain. but I know that one day I might forget!!! I can only imagine the look on my mother's face if she ever sees it.

I visited my mother recently, kind of impulsively, while I was out running errands. As I walked down the hall, at the retirement home, I realized I was wearing my 2003, Old Navy American Flag T-shirt. I try hard to not offend her, so called into her room, and she was in the bathroom, so I said I was dropping off something and would come back tomorrow. (true) Then I went to visit my Dad who wouldn't care, if he could have seen it. (to those who are wondering, my elderly parents are in the same retirement home, but are divorced)

Thanks for laughing with me all. I tried to share the humor in this with hubby, but being that he's never been a JW and after I had to explain the whole cross thing it kind of lost the punch line. Only an x-jw can appreciate these funny little episodes!

my mom saw my thongs drying in my shower when she came over and almost kneeled on the floor to pray lol
