That's so bizarre, I was just going to post about this! I received the following email from USBANK:
Dear USBANK valued member
Due to concerns, for the safety and integrity of the online banking community we have issued this warning message.
It has come to our attention that your account information needs to be updated due to inactive members, frauds and spoof reports. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and renew your records you will not run into any future problems with the online service. However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension This notification expires on July 30, 2004.
Once you have updated your account records your internet banking service will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.
Please follow the link below and renew your account information:https://www.usbank.com/acccount/update.htm Sincerely, USBANK customer department! |
When you click on the account update, it takes you to a site where you can enter personal information to "update" your account. I didn't fall for it because I don't have banking relationship with this bank at *all* .. but I can see how many people fall for it! I'm naturally suspicious anyway, especially when someone is trying to squeeze a penny out of my tight little fist.. so I got a 10 on the test.
They could use it to clean you out! I went to US Bank's site, and they had an email fraud alert. Wow.. thanks for posting the above quiz.. I'm sure it will help ALOT of people!
