I was taken by Talltexan's story about the little girl that died of burns. As I responed to him, I've had two such phenomena and feel perfectly at ease with them. One is interesting in that it took many years to unfold. It began back in the 1960's. My mother-in-law loved gardening and always regretted that the home she had lacked enough water to grow all the flowers she wanted to grow. She passed away at an early age from a curable stomach disorder but being a practicing Christian Scientist she refused medical attention until it was too late. All the family was so distressed at the needless loss. There was a lot of grieving. One night about a week after the funeral I had a very vivid dream that I was in a luxurious garden surrounded by a plethora of flowers and bamboo, her favorite decorative plant. She was reclined on a patio recliner, dressed in a summer dress and looking quiet comfy. The conversation was very direct, to me, that I should convey to the family of her girls that she was now where she had always wanted to be surrounded with a garden with all the water she wanted. Then she pointed to a small pond with water lillys and I walked away feeling that I was being told to "report". End of dream. I withheld telling my wife for over a year but it eventually made the rounds of the family and that was the end of that.
fast forward forty years....
I am helping arrange the back yard for a family reunion and there is a running dialog with my wife as to where to put what furniture. She was adamant that the white patio recliner be in a certain spot. I objected. That night I had another dream, not bad , one every four decades...It was mother-in-law again..This time she only said in a very soft but convincing voice, "do what Betsy wants". End of dream. That weekend the furniture was arranged and when I got through dragging the patio chair up into the garden with it arranged to avoid the direct afternoon sun, I suddenly looked and saw the exact setting, minus mother-in-law, that I had seen in the dream 40 years ago. My wife had unknowingly re-created the exact setting I had seen in my dream forty some years earlier complete with pond and water lillies and bamboo. I then recalled the dream of the night before that I had been "visited". Don't have the slightest idea about what the importance of that all is, but I am comfortable with it and it leaves me un-ruffled.
