Only science can help us understand the universe. What is science though? It is: The study of the physical world and its manifestations especially by using systematic observation and experiment. Any attempt to understand the world outside of this methodology fails. You cannot state something to be defiantly true unless you have documented this by detailed observation backed up by other people?s confirmation. (Observation in this case means, the careful observing and recording of something that is happening for example, a natural phenomenon.) You cannot explain an event or natural phenomenon (Any phenomenon that?s is real, is by definition natural) without the use of proper testing and experiment using techniques that rule out alternate causes or explanations .The results should be backed up by other being able to repeat your experiment with the same results. If the theory is true, you will be able to make predictions based on it and these will turn out to confirm it. If what you believe in does not conform to these principles it is likely either not true, or at best awaiting confirmation. What man has learnt through the centuries is that we cannot trust our intuition or our parents.We must test what we believe or think may be true. When man has properly tested and confirmed ideas this has resulted in progress,(computers,cars,jet engines,TV,phones,etc etc) and technological advancement. When they have carried on regardless we see disillusioned people(religion) fraud and quackery(religion and vast amounts of so called alternative medicines). Be aware.
