Guess Who I Saw At My Girlfriend's House?

Yup, 2 dubs. They came to her house asking if she wanted to learn about "the Bible" cult material. She then responded "No, I'm a Christian". The JW's responded "We're Christians too." I happened to have heard the conversation going on downstairs, and I came downstairs. I then questioned the JW's about the Trinity. I asked "If there's one true god, and Jesus is a god, then would that make Jesus either a true god or a false god?" They then said "There were many good gods". So I then said "If they were good gods, they would be true gods."

Then my girlfriend spilled the beans about me being an XJW. They had a look of shock on their faces that was priceless. Good thing I told them "She confuses the JW's and Mormons, I'm a former LDS".

They then offered to give us some pamphlets. We respectfully refused.

I love it! I like how you are quick thinking to say you were formerly with the LDS. I can't think that fast. LOL

How is it that Jesus' being called theos and JWs believing he is not Jehovah makes them wrong in some way? Just wanted to point out that this particular argument you used seems like a false dichotomy to me, as the word theos basically means a powerful personage of authority and in the LXX humans are also called theos.

And if you were going to terminate the conversation and refuse their pamplets any way, why lie to them about being an ex-JW?

I would've said, "My girlfiend is confused. I'm a Bible Student with the Dawn".

You know Min, I've had Witnesses stop me on the street, and I've told them "I'm a Bible Student" and they look at me like they have no idea what I'm talking about. And youknow? They don't. I get responses like "That's good, it nice to meet people who study the Bible" or "what seminary do you attend?" Then I tell them, "no, I am what you use to be" and they still don't get it. Finally I tell them, "I'm a Russellite" an "Evil Slave" and they run for the hills. In all my years, I only knew a handful of JW's who knew what the DAWN was, and a few years ago, I met a JW who knew about Bible Students because we advertise in the New Jersey Star Ledger and New York Times and he would see our op-ed page ads.
