For reasons of anonymity, I will not post any names or dates here. However, many years ago I did casually

express some doubts to a member of the GB - and have wondered about the answer ever since.

I was inspired to write this because the subject frequently comes up as to whether the GB are real or fake -

or perhaps, more correctly, just how truthful they are.

Any how, I casually wondered out loud how it was possible for the Bible's assurances to have any meaning

when some Witnesses may have died from lack of food.

Answer: David may have made his observation about the righteous never looking for bread based on his own

experiences, often as a rich, privileged king. It's possible that he didn't witness some people starving(!)

I'm not making this up. To this day, I have no idea how sincere this reply was. In any case, I think of it

every time I hear some reassuring baloney about how 'Jehovah provides'. If any died from lack of food or water

or whatever privation was brought their way, then the reassurance is pointless - and they know it.

But I thought ALL scriptures were INSPIRED and BENEFICIAL that we may gain hope and do righteousness (or whatever else it says).

How can the musings of a wealthy, out-of-touch king (if that's what they are) possibly be of benefit to an average Bible reader?

If David never saw a "righteous" man suffer, what was his definition of "righteous"? Did you have to be well-to-do to be "righteous"?

The fact is that the Creator cannot possibly help each and every person all the time. The best we can hope for is that people will help each other. But sometimes that doesn't even happen. The Watchtower will never print that, even though it's apparently the belief of some of the Watchtower leaders.

There are lies and empty promises that you can get away with 95% of the time. This is one of them.

95% witnesses (or whatever the figure may be) don't starve, and so they may attribute this fact to "Jehovah's blessing".

This may make them feel more secure as Jehovah's chosen ones. And the other 5% are either hardly noticeable or easy to deal with (branch office help, support of the more affluent part of the congregation....).

So it all fits in the general picture of Jehovah's support for his servants.

It reminds me of one Nigerian JW who told me how greatful he was to Jehovah and how he thanked him everyday for letting him breathe (!)

He didn't have any respiratory problems at that time, so it worked for him :))

few people really starve to death unless they are in third world countries, and in those places they have little time to think about being a JW.

Many JW's lead sad and miserable lives, they deprived themselves of good jobs and therefore a better lifestyle, but because they are not starving to death they convience themselves that God has blessed them because they are in the truth.

If this is true, then this means that the bible is NOT the inspired word of gawd, but the thoughts and oppinions of humans.

I'd say the GB member was so old that he no longer had the ability to logically think through an idea.

That is probably why my wife won't leave me. She has no education and would miss our kids. (up to the court of course, but I'm confident)

It's also amazing how the dubs lie about not encouraging her to leave. (good topic for a new post)

TO 1914. They are probably telling her to start looking for a new hubby when the new system comes, since you won't be there.
