They just broke ground on the lot where my new house is being built. I noticed on the floor plan that there are empty voids behind a few walls and before they finish building the walls I want to put together a time capsule that I can hide in one of those voids.
If you could put together a time capsule, what you put in it?

A whole news paper of the day you make it.
A cd of the mp3s I've been listening to in the past few months
One days worth of newspapers, every issue I could find
Lots of adverts from newspapers and magazines
I'd keep a diary for a week and put that in
If I had the time I would record one days worth of television, 2-3 channels onto dvd
Edited to add:
2 tech magazines, one about the latest computer gadgets, the other about latest military and engineering inventions
Pictures of the house before, during, and after building. A self photo, any info. related to the neighborhood, copy of the house plans, a dollar bill and some change, anything that someone who owns the house 100 years or more down the road will be fascinated with.
I have an old house built in 1897, and have found a dated signature from the original owner of the house on a corner of one of the floorboards, and have found a 1908 newspaper, and a 1927 newspaper stuck in crevices, and am still looking for the "Big Find" of some kind of heirloom.
Anything to do with the house, and the original owner will be prized and cherished by the person that finds it many years from now...

I worked 20+ years in reinforced concrete.I have built military bunkers,tunnels,the seabrook N.H..usa nuclear plant.
Build it out of concrete,it may outlast the pyramids.

How much experience do you have with concrete... like sprayed concrete... or shorcrete?
Ironically, I am exploring building my next home as a monolithic dome home - and they are made outta sprayed concrete - over polyurethane foam.
I went to their training class in May, and got to help put one up as part of the hands-on training.

...and you're right. When they build these domes... they talk about them lasting for centuries - not decades.
