Men measure their success by faith more than by being their best!

From this week's TIME magazine article about "SuperDads":

Asked by Spike TV to choose how they measure success, only 3% of men said through their work, while 31% said they did so through their faith in God, 26% through being the best person possible, 22% through their network of family and friends, and 17% through maintaining a balance between home and work.

My question, why do people measure success through a belief (faith in God) rather than how they actually do in life (being the best person possible)?

I don't get it. I don't mean to demean faith in God, but is it truly the best measure of success?

Good question Gopher. For me, it's being who I am inside. As Popeye would say, I am what I am.

Because it's easier. If they were to measure their success by their wealth, health or relationships they would find something lacking; they could be richer, healthier, happier. But everybody believes they have the correct religion, and most of them just require blind belief, so it's easy to be a success if you make that your chief criterion.

    That may be true.

Others may think that it's a "fight" to believe in God in an "ungodly" world. So in that way of thinking, imitating an unseen person while being "tempted" not to do so may be seen as "success".

I was hoping a person who believes faith is the key measure of success would shed some light on this subject. Is this just a thing among American men?
