I'm curious to know The Empire's current stance on gun ownership. When I was in, my stepdad told me what The Society said dubs could and couldn't have as far as guns. Long guns were acceptable, provided they were traditional hunting rifles since that was the only purpose one could have a gun for. And shotguns for bird hunting were also ok. Handguns were [in my understanding] a basis for disfellowshipping, since they are only for killing people. (HUH?!) My stepdad eventually sold his bolt-action .22 and his double-barrel shotgun, so as not to stumble anyone and he didn't hunt anyway. (funny story: for a while, he had a bb gun for me that looked an awful lot like an M-1 carbine. An elder saw it one day and totally freaked. He said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH A MACHINE GUN?!" Dad quickly showed him it was just a bb gun. Funny that an elder would say that. Mistook it for an M-2 which is the full-auto version of the M-1....hmmm how'd he know so much about guns?) So what is the Society's current regulation? Can a JW have a hunting rifle or shotgun these days? What about a JW working at a gun shop or target range? mike
Expect nothing and you will never be disappointed,
I suggest constructing a lightsabre. The one Fred Maul has made is excellent.
His powers are greatly increasing. Such a shame the surgeon who stuck his legs back on the wrong way round wasnt as clever. That surgeon wont be making any more mistakes.
Um, logical, I think they'd frown on a lightsabre as much as a blaster. I'll stick with my .45, thank you. At least I won't lose an arm, leg, or pecker by just pointing it in the wrong place. mike.

Who cares what WT. says - they'll do a 180 in a couple months anyway!
A couple years ago I worked for a dr.He invited me to his retirement party with his friends. He dressed up like a Mafia guy, white suit, hat, cigar, and "took out" his pager with his machine gun. Swore he'd never have a pager again. It was great.
I know quite a few Witnesses that own guns of all kinds, including hand guns and no one seems to think any thing about it. I do think it varies from congregation to congregation, I've heard that some places there are people that try to make an issue of it, and some COs are rabid on the subject. On the other hand, I know of a sister in Alaska that regularly carries a .44 magnum under her left armpit while going door to door. Lots of grizzlies in the area so it's considered OK.
The only official position is that you can't carry a firearm as something like a policeman where you might be called on to shoot someone, and you shouldn't carry one for self defense against humans. Even if you do, the only thing that happens is that you won't get any special privileges.
