Hello, my name is Jess and i have been asked by my teacher to produce a fact sheet on Jehovahs Witnesses. I have tried using searches off the web but have had no luck and was wondering if any of you guys could help me...........
Any information on the following would be very helpful....
and anything else you'd like to add to help.

There was a topic similar to this not so long ago. Someone posted a questionaire asking what jw's believe and a bunch of people replied the questions in detail. If you can find that post you will have a ready made fact sheet. Maybe someone who replied to it will know where it is?
Try typing in ... Shaun's research..... This is a good site to learn the basic teachings of the Jehovah Witnesses. Lots of doctrine and other subjects covered, all categorized for easy understanding. I find this site a good place tp start to learn about the j.w. "religion".

Core beliefs:
1, The day of Jehovahs wrath is on out doorstep, all but the faithful JWs will survive.
1a, The Watchtower is Gods sole channal of communication
1b, all must be baptised in the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Watchtower organisation.
2, The arch ange Micheal returned as Jesus in the year 1914, only faithful Jws saw him arrive, they had spiritual eyes to see his invisible presence.
2, everyone who does not believe in the Watchtowers current belief will die with their eyes rotting in their sockets and will be eaten by the birds
3, the majority of faithful JWs will survive Gods wrath and will live in a Paradise earth for 1000 years, other people who never heard the Watchtowers message will be resurrected and taught Watchtower teachings.
4, only 144000 JWs will go to heaven to form a kingdom government that will rule over the earth, Jesus, Charles Taz Russel, Joe Rutherford are just 3 of the members of that special group.
4, at the end of the 1000 years the Devil will mislead some of those faithful & resurrected ones who live on earth and they will be destroyed forever.
Values: 1, Sex before marriage is bad, those who practice will be destroyed. 2, Oral sex is bad, those who practice will be destroyed. 3, JWs should shun family who leave the organisation, those who dont will be destroyed. 4, women who dont scream during rape are as bad as the rapist. Smoking is a drug and therefore a form of demon possesion.
Hospital: JWs DO like being treated in hospital, they dont accept full blood but will accept blood broken down into layers and anything else is ok.
All holidays are pagan and anyone keeping the holidays is worshipping a pagan god and will be destroyed.
Celebrations, are pagan, but its ok to celebrate our wedding anniversaries.
Dieting: It is a sin to be fat or greedy, all products that contain blood must be rejected or you will be destroyed..Fat people may NOT be destroyed if they are faithful to the Watchtower
Hair: Men must have short hair above the ear, sisters can have short hair too but only sisters can have hair past their shoulders.
Dress, suit and tie at all meetings, sisters must adorn in moderation, preff long dresses and tweed coats :).

How do you guys feel about Christmas and Birthdays, am i right in thinking that you dont celebrate??

Of course, this is incorrect; JWs accept medical/hospital treatment, it is only blood transfusions they reject.
In my experience, this misunderstanding is not uncommon.
Most non-JWs I know do not know very much about JWs, and what they think they know is incorrect (like the above, for example).
Which begs the question (ATTENTION JWs/Watchtower):
You have been "delivering your message" to people for over 100 years; and yet *NOBODY* knows what your message is, or what you are all about!
Maybe it is time to think about more efficient techniques.
