<---- Feeling veeery sore. Gawd, now I remember why I stopped doing cable-pulling work.

On Sunday I worked from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM pulling seven drops with four cables each to the different areas around my new house.

Every room will have at least one panel that has four cables: CAT6 Network, CAT6 Phone, RG6 Satellite (TV) and RG6 Cable (TV). I added two extra RG6 cables to the panel in the Family Room media niche so that the TV will have access to an additional Satellite connection (for a dual receiver satellite system) and an antenna that I will put in the attic. The CAT6 is capable of gigabit speeds that are twice as fast as CAT5e. This means that when the technology is finally released I will be able to watch HDTV over my home network. The RG6 cables are quad-shield and rated to 3 GHz. Basically I wired my house for the future. These cables will be able to handle any technology that comes out for at least 10 years.

Everything is labeled. I can grab any cable and tell you where it goes and what it does. Also, all of the cables are neatly tie-wrapped and suspended from the trusses in the roof with them all converging together where I will put in a Network / Media Panel I'm proud to say that the cables look really slick spreading out all over the house in the attic.

I'm still not done though. I still need to pull all of the audio cables for my surround sound system. Those should be MUCH more easy because they are all in the same room and all of the pulls are short.

But imagine how great it will be when your place is all done! Sore or not, that must be exciting!

Yes! I have wanted a system like this for a very long time! When it is finished I will be able to do all sorts of neat things with it!

Dang Else! You are going to have so much cable for entertainment that you wont have much time left for girls!

Sounds great. We just finished our new house and had similar wiring installed in advance of closing up the walls. Cables, cables everywhere. Any particular reason you didn't install fibre optic runs as well? ... besides the outrageous cost of course! Even as an Old F...t I'm still a techno geek at heart.

Best wishes on getting everything up and running to your satisfaction.

Impressed.... !!! I recently did similar in my house but on a much smaller scale, I am using wireless for a lot of it. I remember pulling large mainframe cables through a riased floor in computer rooms some years ago, they are inflexible heavy snakes.

I shall shortly be recabling my recording studio, I need to create some order to the place. I will put some 8 channel multicore to three wall boxes that will take XLR & Jack audio signals, headphone monitoring and Midi cables out to various corners of the studio and terminate this in a patch panel that will hopefully mean I will not have to rewire the desk each time I have a new recording project.

    Ahhh.. .geek nirvana.

Personally, I'm waiting for gigabit wireless.

In the meantime, can I come stay at your house sometime?

Doubtful... you didn't pull any fiber!

But geez...it is soooo much easier to pull wire before the house is complete. I pulled cable through my house after it was already built. What a pain in the arse!
