What is the differance between Second Day, & Seventh Day Adventists?

Can anyone help me out? I've often heard that JW teachings have their basis in Second Day & Seventh Day Adventists. I have researched Seventh Day Adventists a little bit, but could find nothing on "Second Day" Adventists. I find the Seventh Day Adventists teachings similiar to the WTS in the fact that they don't believe in eternal hell, do believe in the resurection, armaggedon, etc.

    Any help is appreciated....

    Thanks,

    Wing Commander :)

It's "Second Adventists," not "Second Day Adventists". All Adventists are anticipating the "Second Advent." Seventh-Dayers, however, are sabbath keepers and thus observe the "Seventh Day".

The Witnesses always get things backwards. That'sbecause they don't know their own history, despite the Society publishing quite a few historical books, albeit biased.

I have often heard them say second adventist myself. There is no second adventist, there were the "second adventist", this was not the name of a group, just a title that floated around in recent years.

The early followers of William Miller, were Advent Christians, who believed the second advent or return of the Lord was imminent, first 1843/44 and then later dates. They splintered off into various groups, in later years someof these merged. Today the ADvent Christian Church and the Church of God Abrahamic Faith, the Bible Students and Jehovah's WItnesses are descendants.

The source I consulted states that the Second Adventists were the original Millerites (followers of Miller); they later became known as Evangelical Adventists. The Advent Christian Church was a breakaway from the Second Adventists. However,I think the problem that has been handed down to us stems from Pastor Russell himself who did not distinguish between the Second Adventists and the Advent Christian Church. In Zion's Watch Tower February 1881, R. 187: page 3 under "Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence," see "A Glance Backward." Here Russell admits: "Looking back to 1871, we see that many in our company were what are known as Second Adventists..." So if people call Jonas Wendell, (see ZWT May, 1890 under "Harvest Gatherings and Siftings. A Sketch of the Development of Present Truth: "...There for the first time I heard something of the Second Adventists, the preacher being Mr. Jonas Wendell, long since deceased...), Barbour, Paton, etc. Second Adventists they are merely stating what Pastor Russell said.
