    G'day all,

Yep, I have to confess it - Mrs Ozzie and I selected a merlot for our meal at a Thai restaurant last night. It seemed the appropriate thing with temperatures rising downunder and the Thai cuisine - well, I thought it would enhance the tastes of the meal!

So, what did I select in replacement of our beloved shiraz?

It was a bottle of this:

    The winemaker's notes read:

"soft, velvety merlot displays attractive plum, cherry and chocolate characters typical of this style, pronounced by subtle creamy oak textures. Enjoy now or cellar for several years."

    Our opinion? W-e-l-l......

    • I couldn't taste the plum notes
    • I couldn't taste the cherry notes
    • and as for the chocolate, well, I'd say, stick to Cadbury's Dairy Milk!!!!

I did taste a musky tint but really a very thin, overpriced (A$15) wine.

I wish I'd stuck with a good shiraz.

    But that's just my opinion!

    Cheers, Ozzie

I've tried some shiraz, and it's pretty good. I do like a good rieseling. I'm all about the semi-sweet wines.

Then try Duplins muscadine wine. It's sweet and Muscadine grapes are good for your heart. At least that's what my sister said her Dr told her.

Glad to hear you've come to your senses. Really Oz, Merlot! What were you thinking?

Nina prefers the merlots. I like them all right, nothing wrong with a good merlot, but I'm more of a cabernet fan. Lately I've been exploring pinot grigio, a nice light Italian white wine. It's very nice in the summer.
