I accompanied my mother to the meeting yesterday. In the meeting the new Watchtower video was reviewed. The video was based on Moses' relationship with God and people. It was mentioned that some people did not follow the instructions that were given to Moses by God. After several minutes of dicussing the video the elder got to the message of the video which is, if one rebels against the elders they rebel against God. This angered me greatly. I think it is necessary for an individual or a group to keep a church organized but the church should revolve around the God not the organizers. I have not read the Bible entirely but I am sure that the prophets did compare themselves to God in any way.
Thats it!

The society has twisted numerous Bible events to reinforce their own authority. For example - the story of Abraham and Isaac.
It seems that just about every Bible event can be used to prove that either:
a) You should obey the society at all costs
b) You should sell more product

That is not surprising . They want their flock to treat the idiots( elders) like they are some kind of God. It is so instilled in the JWS to feel such admiration and respect for the Godly ones that some JWS tremble at the thought of them coming to their door or having a private meeting with them. I am surprised that the WT hasn't had the flock bow when ever an Elder enters a room . I don't see any subservient control here.LOL
