Witnesses are buying my book!

I had to deliver my book to a couple who are Witnesses (they asked my Witness Mother for me to drop it off) who I haven't seen in 25 years this past Monday.

They are in my book and they were very good to me when I was a kid. It's a miracle they wanted me to come visit them (they live in a nursing home). They are 74 and 78 so, although I knew it was going to be a kind of torture, my discomfort was worth it because it might be the last time I see them.

The first thing she says is, "Is it true that you left Jehovah?" (It's only been about 20 years - LOL)

I said things like I respect faith, etc etc., talked about other things, then she says, "Don't you want to live forever?"

    I said, "No, I don't."

They couldn't believe it. I quickly added that I hope they would be able to live forever (I meant that sincerely) because they wouldn't be suffering their illnesses anymore.

Then another Witness bought my book the other day from Mother. I just never know what to expect next! LOL

By the way, my book Father's Touch - the new edition is finally available here on amazon.com

    Donald,

Now that you have given us a report on your book, we would like to hear about your magazine issue on JW's and blood. What have been the reactions--pro & con? Thanks.

Thanks for asking Kenneson..just got back from delivering them. My Witness mother will be giving copies to the Witnesses that visit her this week...so I'll let you know what feedback I get.

My mother by way, who has been a Witness for 45 years thought the story was great. Like I said, it doesn't take sides. Puts the issue on the table and allows the reader to come to his/her own conclusions.

My sister who has been disfellowshipped for over 20 years just called me to tell me she loved the story as well.

I'd say this is a good sign.

Wow, I didn't know you were on the board...I'm new to it though. I e-mailed you last week--and I meant what I said, you're very brave for telling your story. It's a good sign that some Witnesses are buying your book, I wish you all the best.

Excellent, that your book is generating interest, and Witnesses are reading! You were kind to those seniors, who could only speak the "party line". You left the script, and they had nothing left to say.
