Jehovah's Witnesses take Georgia to court
Jehovah's Witnesses are taking the Georgian authorities to the European Court of Human Rights over what they say is the government's reluctance to protect followers from attacks.
A spokesman for the church in London, Paul Gillies, said more than 300 complaints had been submitted to Georgian prosecutors, but no action had been taken.
Mr Gillies said Jehovah's Witnesses had been attacked by gangs of Orthodox extremists who raided meetings, assaulted worshippers and burnt religious literature.
Human rights campaigners say the attacks are part of a campaign of violence against religious minorities in Georgia.
Georgian prosecutors say they have launched an investigation.
