Many of you heard me tell the story about popular Australian television personality, John Sefran. He traveled all over the world and participated in different demonic religious ceremonies, as part of a TV documentary. To name only a few of the things he got involved in:

    • Tried on Mormon underwear and participated in other Mormon ceremonies in Salt Lake City.
    • Studied under a Spiritual Guru in India and worshipped Hanumun the monkey god.
    • Took a spirit walk in Arizona with the Peyote Way Church of God and ingested the sacred peyote drug in attempt to get divine insights into the universe.
    • Participated at a Zen Buddhist Monastery in Japan.
    • Participated in the day of the dead voodoo ceremony in Haiti
    • Participated in a breaking a curse on the Australian soccer team in Mozambique by washing himself in chicken blood.
    • He also participated in other ceremonies with the KKK, Freemasonry and Satanism (including calling up demons and signing a blood oath).

John's last stop was to see the Exorcist--me! His plan before setting out on his quest was to participate in different religious and occult ceremonies and then conclude by coming to me for deliverance I started the exorcism at my office, but had to stop to leave for my Spiritual Freedom Conference in Oklahoma City, OK. He and two camera man followed me there. By the time he left not only him, but the camera men accepted Christ. DWJD members from Oklahoma, Texas and South Carolina and I ministered to him and he experiences a powerful exorcism with the chief demon of Abominations (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).

Last night the final episode aired in Australia. The web site described it as "The most compelling episode of the series, John Safran is forced to face his demons by Christian exorcist and fundamental preacher, Bob Larson." The largest newspaper in all of Australia wrote that the episode featuring this exorcism is "the most extraordinary half-hour of television you might ever see."

It was truly compelling TV... Safran was obviously deeply affected by the experience, as was everyone I watched it with.

One part of me wonders if the Jehovah bit of the JW's isn't all true, maybe the demon bit is...

...but the rationalist in me noted though that there was a lot of suggestive material given to Safran before the exorcism.

Safran was shown videos of earlier exorcisms, met others who'd 'benifited' before and was told repetedly and authoritivly how badly possessed he'd be as a result of all his particiation in rituals. From there there I just wonder if he was led to a vulnerable and highly sugestable state and then succumed to hypnotisim?

He did A LOT on the Mormons over the series. On one show he went preaching door-to-door in Salt Lake City wearing Mormon 'uniform' right down to teh bike and black badge saying 'Elder Safran - Athiest' using Darwin's Origin of Species as his 'literature'!

But he never, ever even once (that I saw) mentioned the JW's... I wonder if he can do almost anything to offend his birth religion (Jewish) except utter 'the name'?

It's very insightful TV, hopefully PBS or Channel 4 might screen it in the US & UK.

Cheers, Max and any (un)friendly spirits I'm sharing with leading me to rationalise it away...

(BTW, we just had 80mph winds through which ripped big limbs off big trees in the yard and brought hail like ping-pong balls... the temp just before was about 120F... yuk...)

What part of these things are demonic? The only one related to "demonism" IMHO is the last one, in particular the Satanist thing (which is said to be calling up demons). The rest are not "demonic".

      • He also participated in other ceremonies with the KKK, Freemasonry and Satanism (including calling up demons and signing a blood oath).
In fact, I don't see anything particularly wrong with the rest of the points, as long as you're not harming anyone.

Hi Sirona - Mmm... Well... Watch the series and you'll see why it's so plausible that if there are spirits then the bad ones got right into John Safran!!

For example, the exorcist said the Mormon garment had a curse and wearing it gave the demon(s) of Mormonism the 'legal right' to enter the person. Likewise calling up viking gods, having a fatwah for blasphemy called on an innocent person by an Islamic court, chomping the goolies off a goat in a voodoo ceremony and so on were seen as giving the relevent spirits ('demons') the implicit invitation and right to enter Safran.

I guess all this grabs me a bit because of the obsession I remember from the JW's about the demons coming into the house with books or second hand furniture or by watching the wrong TV shows, and from all the stories I was told as a kid of 'demon attacks' and so on. The idea that 'spirit activity' was OK if harm wasn't caused was just not on the radar and it wasn't for this exorcist who was Safran's final call.

John Safran did do a piece on JW's in Melbourne, Victoria. He attended a meeting and went out witnessing. He tried to get a pioneer couple to run away when someone sprayed water on them and another incident with a dog. He may not have gotten enough 'fun' footage to make the show work though. I will be interested if the show goes to air.
