    Hello,

Any true audiophiles must take a look a Wilmslow Audio's speaker kits. These are either supplied component only so that you can build your own cabinets, or in kits which you just assemble. Over the years I have built a number of these kits, from the BBC Monitors, to the monster four unit designs and can highly recommend them.

Would it be possible to make a guitar amp out of one of these? I'm in desperate need of a new amp and don't have the money to buy a good one.

    Hello Snowcrash,

No these kits are rather esoteric and expensive designs for the audiophile. I have heard through the grapevine that Torres Engineering do a very good quality tube-amp in a kit for around $295.00 and that the sound is very sweet. I have never heard it myself though.

Oh man, homemade tube amps. That's gotta sound awesome. Thanks for the info. Nothing sounds better than a tube amp. Digital just takes the soul out of the sound. Of course, this is coming from someone in an industrial band. I'm a guitar player first and industial artist second. Besides, my band is a low-tech industrial band. A homemade amp will go well with our hacked gameboy, commodore 64, and pirated VST software.

I'm an aspiring audiophile... I'd like to be one, but I don't have the money for the good stuff. Music is an expensive hobby. I'm not sure I can afford to be an audiophile and a musician. Unless people decide they like the sound of two nerds hacking their way to rockstardom.
