    Danny sez:

I was denied dental braces in childhood by apocalyptic JW cult, cause Dad sez: "A pretty smile don't give everlasting life. Jehovah gonna give me new choppers in the Watchtower paradise."

How many of you have suffered poor health care because of the Watchtower?

    Hi Randy,

I'm sorry to hear that some weren't given orthodontia and are unhappy with their teeth.

Personally, I like interesting looking teeth. Crooked teeth can often give someone's smile a lot of character.

I always got good dental care for my children. My son's permanent teeth came in a bit crooked because an unethical dentist pulled baby teeth, claiming that if he did not pull them, that my son's teeth would grow in crooked. Well, guess what?Pulling them made them even more crooked.

Jes didn't want to wear braces to straighten his teeth. If it had been very important to him though I would have found a way to pay for braces. If I had not provided braces it would have been due to the money factor and not the new system instant cure factor.

You know I had to fight with my JW husband back when I was married to him to provide good dental care for our 3 sons. One required braces and I got them for him but boy did his Dad complain about the cost. Then there was the 6 month cleanings. Cleanings were free through our insurance plan thank goodness. The braces on the teeth though cost over $3,000 back 3 years ago. He kept saying the new system is coming why waste money on teeth. That is why he is my ex-husband now, he was an idiot.

Most of the JW didn't take good care of their teeth. Our course money is a problem too I'm sure with the dead end jobs most of them had to work because no education.

I didn't get braces, I guess because when I needed them it was pre-1975. My brothers, both younger than me, got them though, post 1975. By then it was too late for me to get them on the family health insurance.

My parents, though believing in JW "1975" doctrine, got braces for me when I was 13 back in 1974. So not all JW parents neglected good dental work for their children back then.

I would think, though, that JW's would want good looking teeth. After all, they have to put on that so-called "Kingdom smile" when they go evangelizing hawking Watchtower literature.
