If 1914 has any signification whatsoever, wouldn't we find at least 1 person who was attending meetings in 1914 and still going to the hall today? Are there any left?

I think this question may have been asked and answered more than once on JWD.

With regard to your question I assume you are talking in referrence to WT publications and predictions since you mention "going to the hall".

The fact is that WT has changed their story many times on this date for obvious reasons.

With regard to the context of your question you would be referring to the WT claim that the generation that witnessed the events of 1914 would also witness Armageddon. At one time WT estimated that this generation would have been at least 10-13 years old (to understand the significance of the events of 1914). That would put that generations age between 100 and 103 today (i.e. born in 1901-1904).

Whether or not there is still one person left attending meetings would be irrelevent since WT claim was that "the generation (that witnessed the events of 1914)". That clearly implies many people since one individual does not make "a generation". There would have to be many of this generation still alive and attending meetings. You can draw your own conclusions about the reliability of WT claims of 1914 and it's Armageddon significance.

On another note, there have been a number of posters here at JWD who are experiencing older witnesses being squeezed out. I wonder if this indicates a move by WT to eliminate the older ones who can witness to the younger ones the fact that these previous WT doctrines have been morphing. I also wonder if having the older ones around is a daily reminder to the general rank and file that perhaps WT is wrong and not "the truth".

That is a hard doctrine to follow . The WTBTS could still cling to it because there were only 8 people saved in the day of noah so it is imaginable that there might only be a very small group of people from the generation alive to witness the end of the world . At the pace the world is going it wouldn't surprise me in the least . The WTBTS has already stated tho that the world did end invisibly so that confuses alot of things but I don't think that is what the scripture is implying .

Jeez, can you imagine that? 90 years listening to that crap!

    Edited to add...

Anyway, 1914 has been pretty much disconnected from 'this generation'

*** Watchtower 1995 11/1 19 A Time to Keep Awake *** 12 Therefore, in the final fulfillment of Jesus? prophecy today, ?this generation? apparently refers to the peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ?s presence but fail to mend their ways.

So I guess it means they admitted that they had been lying all along or at least for over 50 years. I wonder if all those people who gave up their money and lives based on that lie can get it back?

Wow , that's incredible how they just up and change the meaning from a generation of faithful witnesses to now a generation of disobedient ones . Thanks for posting that , I knew they were in the process of changing the doctrine but did not hear the new light . So now it's if you can't see the invisible presence of jesus christ and mend your ways you are the subject of the passage . BTW it's Mathew 24:34 .
