it seems the wt is selling off lot of property. the wt just sold the orange grove farm they have in fort myers fla. i guess jehovah got sick of growing oranges. john i was told no jw's wanted to pick the oranges no more. sounds like the borg just wants the $$$$$$$$$$

I thought we were talking about fruit.
The last 2 years have not been good for the orange groves in that area. This last group of hurricanes probably wiped out what was commerically viable.
I'm sure they are dumping all their property that isn't useful. They are going to need a great deal of cash when the France court case is finalized. The donations from the "friends" aren't what they used to be.
JWs used to be able to count time on their slips when they worked in the grove...wonder what they will do now?

I think they're cutting back on a lot of their food production capacity, not just orange groves.
Apparently they're just not economical--they can buy food cheaper down at the wholesale food markets.
Am I being overly cynical in suggesting that there must be something dramatically wrong with their management methods if, in spite of having free labour, they still can't compete with commercial growers...?

It's hard to put anything past you Johnny Everything they do has a $$$$ sign attached and it is getting worse.
I would not be suprised if the farm is turned into a subdivision of houses with a lot of bucks going to the WT.

My God...so to speak...If I knew I could count time just by witnessing to oranges I would have bought a bag...Taken them home and tried to convert them.
