Looking back, I realized that the last couple of years before I left, I pretty much stopped donating to the "worldwide work". If I was "reminded" at a convention that we should "give freely", I might've given some cash, but usually I didn't....What about you??

We had a house left to our KH. We sold it, as well as our then current KH, and built a new one.

I donated $100 to the JW's the whole time I was in. I did it on Dec. 31 to get the tax break from making a donation. Funny thing was that the check never left my account. It's like they forgot to deposit it or it came out of someone else's account or something. Anyone missing $100?

I know of a case. My mum had a really good friend, let's call her Hannah, and Hannah was definitely NOT a witness but my Mum carried on witnessing to her every so often and she would listen politely. Hannah's grandmother was a witness hence the politeness.

Anyway, Hannah's grandmother died and she left everything, and I mean absolutely everything she owned to the society. The relatives were not even allowed into the house to collect any little personal item or nik nak as a momento by the representatives of the JW congregation she had belonged to. NOT A SAUSAGE!

Anyway Hannah told my mum about this and my mum tried to defend the Witnesses, of course, and they have never spoken since!

    Minimus..Strange but unfortunately true.

There was a very elderly sister in our congregation, died about 18 years ago and she left all of her money to the congregation and the society. She was also one of the annointed. She had no children .

Several elderly sister who have died without families have also done the same and some have just left a proportion. I have relatives who have died and apart from immeadiate family who received their estates they also left substantial amounts to the Society, though not to the congregation.

The thing with Hannahs grandmother, is that the rest of her family were Roman Catholic and only the grandmother was JW and in that country there is no love lost between the RC's and the JW's.

I donated my tax return every year - since I was a teenager in college, I usually got a few hundred back; added up to a sum or two, I guess. Water under the bridge. That money was spent building a "religion of the bribed and coerced" long long ago... har har har..

I would've made sure that I owed money for that year.
