some statistics i got in the mail today.

I'm on a program called " tenncare" which is basically medicaid.
they send out a newsletter every month or so and i got one in today.
it had stats from last year which included child abuse..
quoting " Sadly, last year more than 1,500 children in Tennesee were victims of reported physical abuse. And more than 2,200 were victims of sexual abuse, according to the state's Dept of Children's Services. " end quoting.
i didnt realize that more children are sexually abused than physically abused.if the reported numbers are so high the actual numbers must be mind boggling.

The stats shown on this site aren't comprehensive, but show that 1 in 3 boys are physically abused and 1 in 5 girls are sexually abused in Ontario.

This is mind boggling. And this is statistics for just one state! Can you imagine what it must be for the whole U.S., not to mention the rest of the world?

One thing to be wary of is the definition of "sexual abuse." Is exposure to pornography sexual abuse? Then one must define "pornography" also. Is taking a picture of your baby in the bathtub child pornography? Some might say yes, then that can skew numbers.
That being said, there are many, many sickos out there. Too many.
