Really who is buying those old (when Christmas was still celibrated by WTS) books? I mean really $10.00 for a moldy old book? Good grief whoever it is I hope they don't have allergies.

The WBTS is! Better they have them to cover their tracks, then some apostate to be able to use against them.

Really, I haven't got a clue but it makes sense to me.

There was a post a while back - I forget who wrote it - apparently they had auctioned off some old WT literature on ebay, and the winning bidder wanted the books sent to 24 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn NY.

And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed?if all records told the same tale?then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.' ~ 1984
Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. ~ 1984

i sometimes buy one. you can't show a JW "apostate" literature (that's why i never bought one), but you can show em what nonsense their holy leaders produced not too long ago.

I buy one now and again myself. When I was in my first marriage, I had a vast collection of older WT pubs, but my ex-wife took the whole thing, pretty much. Her excuse was that I wouldn't need them since I didn't believe in the religion anymore, but that doesn't really explain why she wanted all the older ones that were out of print and contained "old light". The real reason is that she was aware those books were worth some money. Now, I understand, she has them stowed away in a storage locker somewhere and never even looks at them.

The reason I'm trying to rebuild the collection is that I'm working as an active "apostate," making my services available in my own church and other local churches to teach about JW's and offer the benefits of my experience. I've been teaching a doctrinal study on JW teachings in my church's adult Sunday School for almost a year now, and it's been very well received. The curriculum is an original one that I am writing, and my author friend assures me that I have a decent chance of finding a publisher for it when it's done. So having the older WT pubs is very useful for this work.

I don't go crazy on prices, of course, and I know what can be obtained through other sources either free or cheap (I never bid on currently in-print literature). But I have gotten some good deals on some neat stuff. I also occasionally pick up some Mormon stuff or older Herbert W. Armstrong booklets. What can I say, I'm a born packrat.

Oh Scully I almost weep when I read quotes from outstanding literature. 1984 like animal farm is so on point. As I read the quote I was shaking my head yep thats it exactly.

If they are buying those books I wish they had to pay more $$$$.

Well I can understand if they are useful to you. That's cool. I noticed some German or maybe dutch guy is buying them. It just seems strange to me...and at 10.00 a pop when they were originally what a nikel? I would imagine that the WTS would love to get them all and burn 'em.
