Rutherford did say that the material in the Watchtower was conveyed by Angels, rather than Holy Spirit, but he did not claim direct visitations by angels themself. He was specifically vague on the exact details how information was conveyed.
"Some claiming to be fully devoted to Jehovah find it difficult to learn to be obedient to organization instructions. This is strong proof that such are not in the temple. .. If you find it difficult to be in harmony with the organization instructions, that is sufficient reason for a careful self-examination to see what is your standing before the Lord.. angels are delegated by the Lord to convey his instructions to the members of his organization on earth. Just how this is done is not necessary for us to understand."

This was during Rutherford's tenere - He might have been the author, although I think that most the major writing was done at this time by Fred Franz. Jeff
(1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?

The questions have changed a lot since then. Seems to be a different "channel" than the one we have now.
