Well this is my last day in San Francisco. It has been great! It has long been one of my most favorite cities. It has such character and a great history. I will miss it, but it will be so good to get back home... which should be about 9 hours from now.
I'm at my conference in the hands on center (computer area they have set up for us geeks to check email, etc.). Right now the session going on is a lame panel discussion on trademarks and copyrights. I had to leave. It just reminded me too much of an assembly talk.
Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever been to a business conference and been horribly reminded of some past idiotic talk where they all sit in chairs in a semi circle on the stage and talk like they are the CO and a few POs giving vital instructions to escape impending software doom? Yeah, I had to run outside to look for Apostates with signs just to make sure I was at a worldly event.
On the way to Moscone West today we were offered a free stress test. It was another famous cult, the Scientologists. We rode the cable cars again. One of my coworkers lost his In-N-Out virginity. I had a Double Double (I probably should have posted this in my old junk food thread.) I saw a lot of very interesting people and things. Where else can someone walk through an artsy public square carrying an black-and-white photo of a nude man (full frontal) with no one giving it a second thought. Chinatown is celebrating New Year today. Last night was Mardi Gra. (I got lots of beads.) I may have walked in the same places as Mark Twain, Levi Strauss, Emporer Norton the First, and William McKinley. This place is so colorful. The weather is fantastic. Sunny and about 60 degrees. I love this town. But it will be good to be home.
