... for the JW organisation.
Gill made an interesting point in the topic The Generation of 1914:
"Time alone can destroy the JW cult."
And I must say I strongly agree with this. At first, I used to think that this organisation would potter along forever with it's determined few but now I see hope that time itself will put an end to this monstrosity of a lie.
There are a number of reason I feel this way, amongst them are:
The propagation of the freely available honest information through media such as the internet (for example this board, and items such as the UN website and what that brought).
The inevitable death of the older generation - the stalwarts of the organisation - who as I have seen through personal experience, are on the whole more unwilling to accept logic and reasoning and with that, change (sorry, I don't mean to stereotype here, but just going off what I have seen myself).
The overwhelming scientfic evidence that has been discovered - and will continue to be discovered - disproving many aspects of their belief system.
The increasing outdatedness of many of their primary attitudes, such as spousal obedience.
These things give me hope that maybe by another 3 generations or so from now the WTS organisation will cease to exist or become so marginalised it is an irrelevance to all but a handful of people.
Any thoughts from any of you on this board would be welcome.

You make some good points... and I can see a time where the organization starts to shrink... but I doubt that it will ever go away. There will always be a small core of "true believers" no matter what changes they make. Yes, they will loose people, but the true believers will stay loyal no matter what.
I can even see new break-off religions forming is they make any profound changes.

their doctrines are so full of holes and inconsistent, i can't imagine the jw's being around, say, 100 years from now. the world grows more enlightened every day, and with information readily available online, there's not much they can shove under the rug anymore, no matter how may die-hard, dyed-in-the-wool jw's remain. they will topple like a house of cards...

The pure feeling of POWER that being an elder gives some men means that in my humble opinion the WTBTS will never totally go away - there will always be one or two hardcore.
I believe 2014 will bring a reduction in numbers and 2034 anothe rhuge drop - also incraesing internet availability - but I believe there will always be some hardcore believers

A thought crossed my mind. Considering the way JW's have preached during the last 125 years or so. The amount of publications they have put out in that time. The calling regularly on people door to door. The assemblies and conventions they hold each year and shout about. The "marketing" of their religion. If you catch what I'm getting at.
How come there is only 6 million of them?

I worry about increases in the third world, they are ripe for it. This could result in a leadership shift AWAY from North America, or some seriously large breakoff groups.
