In 1959, page 63, the Divine Plan of the Ages denied that the Watchtower Society ever published a biography of Charles Taze Russell. The writer certainly was not very knowledgeable. Had he checked early Watchtower magazines, he would have located Russell's biography in the Dec. 1, 1916 number. http://ctrussell.us/

In 1994 the Society was forced to make an about face in Proclaimers of God's Kingdom, page 64. A "brief" biography is admitted.

I believe the book you are referring to is known as the "Divine Purpose" book.

    Sonoita,

You're absolutely right. The Divine Plan of the Ages was in Studies in the Scriptures. But the book mentioned is Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose. Thanks for catching my mistake.

It is interesting that page 63 of the book Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose states that they never published a biography of Pastor Russell. However, in the same book on pages 16-17 it says: "Here's something from the opening paragraphs of his [Russell's] biography as published in the Foreward of a later edition of his popular book, The Divine Plan of the Ages." Then it goes on to quote from the very Watch Tower published Russell biography that less than 50 pages later they deny ever printing.

Could they have been referring to the fact that they have never published a biography of Russell in "book" form? The thrust being that they have not deified or elevated him to worshipful founder status as have some, say Christian Scientists and Mary Baker Eddy by means of an official biography book? This was a no brainer for me, kind of nitpicky. They are worse on the big stuff. This sort of piffle is grasping at straws. I think it detracts from the real issues, ie: 1914, 1975, Flashing new light and such.

    Whatever floats your boat.
