When Leadership Is Bogus: A True Story

He ranted and exhorted his followers with fiery rhetoric for many years. He inspired them as comrades in a worldwide organization,

traveling across the world to defend revolutionary beliefs.

Yet, he was bogus, a complete fake.

This is the story of Pieter Boeve' , the "Secretary-General of the Marxist-Leninist Party of the Netherlands". For many years,

he was Chris Petersen, posing as an ardent Marxist, while he was actually "an opera-loving math teacher moonlighting

    for Dutch intelligence."

"Nothing was real, " says the ex-Mr. Petersen, who now lives under his real name, Pieter Boeve', here in Zandvoort, a seaside

resort town west of Amsterdam. The only genuine part of a revolutionary career that lasted decades, he says, was a fondness

for Chinese food: the Chinese Communist Party, Mr. Boeve' recalls, had excellent cooks." ( The Wall Street Journal, Dec. 3, 2004

    front page, center column).

and how do his followers feel?

"I totally wasted 12 years of my life, " says Paul Wartena, an ex-MLPN member who was so dedicated to the cause he used to

donate 20% of his salary to the fake party." He'd like his donations back!

    and Mr. Boeve' s reaction?

    "He was an idiot".

Now think about this carefully: You are one of Jehovah's Witnesses. You know that the Society's publications and talks

have declined into cut and paste repetition, empty slogans and tired platitudes.

You know that the organization has a deep problem with alcoholism.

You know that the organization is trying to 'slip away' from the blood transfusion issue.

You know that there have been countless examples - all the way up to the Governing Body - of serious sins such as

homosexuality, adultery, even child molestation , practiced across years, uncaught.

You can see how the Watchtower tries to manipulate the friends with simple minded deceptions.

Now, how difficult is it to believe that many Watchtower leaders - in Brooklyn and especially Paterson - are fakes?

That they are just 'playing a role'? That they have no real faith in the 'truth' as a collection of doctrines?

.... that they are wasting your efforts, your money ..... and your life in the maintenance of their own perks and positions?

The jw yahoo chatroom pretty much clears out after I've pasted them (and Norms), verbatim.

    Keep them coming please.

In a land, not too far away, a confidence was discovered. " Oh look, what do we have here? A bright and shiny toy." " Oh yes, a most potentially rewarding toy!" cried the seers. "All we have to do is massage it a bit, don't you see? And the world is ours . . .for you and me!"

"It is thus necessary that the individual should come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation; that the position of the individual ego is conditioned solely by the interests of the nation as a whole ... that above all the unity of a nation's spirit and will are worth far more than the freedom of the spirit and will of an individual. .... This state of mind, which subordinates the interests of the ego to the conservation of the community, is really the first premise for every truly human culture .... we understand only the individual's capacity to make sacrifices for the community, for his fellow man." (Adolph Hitler, 1933)

"Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all." (Nikita Khrushchev , February 25, 1956 20th Congress of the Communist Party)
