Despite the lessons of thousands of years of human history, it seems that racial and religious hatred still dominates the thinking of many in this world. The last century saw the holocaust and other atrocities of WW II, Rwanda, the Killing Fields, Hindus against Muslins during the partition of India, Catholics against Protestants in N. Ireland, hatred by certain sections of the Muslim world against the USA and list that goes on and on.

The hope I still have is that we can teach our children to think differently.

What should we be teaching our kids if we want a better world?

You've describe the empty part of the glass. The other part is full of evolving awareness and social development that is very positive. All good cooking takes time. We would like to see a perfect world. That's the emotional snack that JWs are sucked into. The reality is, we are given a do-it-yourself kit with lots of instructions but for the most part forget the instructions quickly and go back to doing finish work with a framing hammer. Time, my friend and a new blue print will take care of the adolescence the world is presently experiancing.

My wife and I make it a 'practice' to hug and kiss our grandchildren. Believe me, it makes a difference.

I agree....love, tolerance, respect (for others and self), self control. I think teaching our children history too-history of what can go wrong, what has gone wrong so that they will want to make it a better world.

It all begins at home. "Let it begin w/me"
