    I posted this on the thread regarding suicide, but in case some hadn't read that thread, I think it is deserving of another go around. Whoever Shaun is, I boosted it from her website, which I am linking to here. Of all the XJW sites I have ever seen, this was my favorite. Thanks to whoever Shaun is.

    Hi, Lisa... may I add a couple of 'important' things, too? Thank you.

    Become a JW... you can't:

    Tell the truth to whomever you wish to tell it;
    Speak the truth to those who consider themselves 'superior' to you;
    Love anyone you wish, even those considered to be your 'enemies';
    Get into the kingdom of the heavens, unless you're fairly old and gray;
    Eat and drink to augment your being 'in union' with Christ, unless you're of a numbered group which they approve of;
    Preach the good news of the kingdom, unless the WTBTS has 'approved' you first;
    Get baptized into the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, period, because you MUST instead get baptized into 'the organization';
    Serve God in spirit and Truth;
    Walk by spirit, because with them you HAVE to walk by flesh;
    Be considered 'spiritual' based on the 'man' you are on the INSIDE and not the 'man' you are on the outside;

    yada, yada, yada, yada.

    In truth, IF you become a JW... or indeed 'yoke' yourself to ANY 'religion'... you will NOT be free, but will be 'bound under law' again... whatever their particular 'laws' happen to be. If, therefore you wish to truly BE free, then you must know and believe that it is the TRUTH, the SON OF GOD, who truly 'sets you free'.

    John 8:32, 36
    John 14:6

    Peace to you all!

    A slave of Christ,

    Shelby , you're right.

    Become a JW and you have to prove your righteousness based on works, not on faith.

    LDH:

    Yep, if you care about being a good jw you can't go anywhere without feeling totally out of place and claustrophobic. All that shit runs through your head and before you know you're having a damn anxiety attack. You know that's the reason why so many jw's suffer from wierd of the wall social disorders. It likes being on a friggin prison chain gang. You're outside but you can't do shit, so might as well be locked up.

    Sure do get the picture!

    Religions are a bunch of "don't do!!!!!!!

    Another JW don't do:

    If your child is df'd - after asking elders, can go to the child's wedding if no minister is present, but can't go to the reception.

    Cannot share a meal with any family member (of legal adult age) who is df'd or da'd.

    Cannot give a book speaking against the JW religion to another person or will be considered to disassociate oneself.

    Btw, Shaun's Place is by a woman named Shaun, around 30 yrs. old, from Australia (if I remember right.) Her story is on her site.

    A great site for information and background - scans of actual letters from WTBTS, articles, etc.
