Here is a pleasantly distracting activity to while away the hours the next time you are at the Kingdom Hall.

Match the marrieds. On page 24 of the December 15, 2004 WT magazine is a picture of the 117th graduating class of the WTBTS School of Gilead. Only one couple are actually seated together.

The first person to successfully name that couple wins the prize. The winner will receive a matchbox car from my extensive collection of cheap gifts.

jgnat, they are training the wives to get used to their husbands not being around very much.

I used to note how many men had blue shirts or bow ties for reference to show the elder fashion police.

I would also try and see if there were any mixed marriages. (none so far)

I will admit there are more black faces in the Gilead picture than in days gone by. I noticed the the average age seems to be climbing each year.

I can't go back to the KH and the WTBTS killed forgot me when I DA'd from them so I don't get the latest propaganda. Do they still hold the graduations at the Queens Assy Hall... you know, the one with all those pagan Egyptian paintings and symbols on the front of it? I bet 'Ol C.T. Russell gets a big thrill everytime they meet there.

No, they are held at Patterson and Wallkill and Brooklyn and hooked together with closed ciruit TV. It rotates who gets to attend in person.

On March 8, 2003, the graduation of the 114th class took place at the Watchtower Educational Center in Patterson, New York. The 6,404 who gathered in the auditorium and at satellite locations listened attentively to the program, which consisted of talks, interviews, and a group discussion.

One mixed marriage that I can see, Garcia. They look like very nice people. How about the Novell's? She appears to have definite medeterranian roots.

Based on looks, the Thompson couple look like an odd match. Mr. M. Thompson hopefully understands that he has snagged a winner, he is smiling big enough.

Yes, the relative age of the couples is something I noticed as well. Mr. M. Avallenda does not even bother hiding the grey. His wife is a looker, too, a classic beauty.

In the US, people aren't as concerned about Hispanic marrying European. Actually Hispanic people are Caucausian (white). The WTS has been careful not to depict black and white couples. The one I did find (forgot where) has a white husband and a black wife. My black friends tell me that combination is more "acceptable" than a white woman marrying a black man. The WTS is still concerned about offfending a person at the door with a black/white couple on the cover or in the article featured for non-JWs. I can remember going through the WT setup area and their showing me various covers for the same magazine. Some with white people, some with black. The ones with black people were targeted for areas such as Africa and that was when they told me about using white people on the covers in the US not to offend pepople in the south. The WTS did not really desegregate until late in the 70's. Since the demographics of KHs are based on the surrounding community, I can see why little changed. We lived in the south for awhile and the KHs the blacks attended were very, very simple and the one that the white JWs attending were more elaborate. In some congregations in NYC, the only white face they saw at the KH were visitors and Bethelites assigned there.

Actually I knew a couple that went to Gilead in 1998 I think, where the husband was black and the wife was white. I can't remember their last name (I knew the wife before she got married) but their first names were Michelle and Kevin.
