Psychic readings

Who here has been to a psychic or palm reader? What did you think? Do you think they have any supernatural powers or just make informed guesses based on statistics when they take a look at you. Example: I am 30, a white female, with a ring on my finger.. what are the issues that concern me?

Do you think that they are demonized or that it's against your conscience to go to one? Is it a waste of money?

Just curious... I've been to a few and consider it entertainment. I don't live my life based on what a psychic says, although I have been given some interesting advice before. I think it's one of the things that I wanted to do after getting "out" and wasn't criminal, wouldn't hurt no one and wasn't a tattoo. I was always curious and finally let go of the feeling that getting a reading would demonize my life. It's laughable now,.... the only thing they do is talk for 20 mins and charge you an arm and a leg.

My wife had a psychic reading during a Christmas party this year. He told a few things that have come true. Like telling us we would be buying a new truck in a few months. I just bought a 2003 Ford F150 Supercrew, he also said that her twin sister would be getting married next year, she just got engaged over the summer. By the way, she never told the psychic about the engagement.

I don't think they are demonized. I just think these people are trained to ask certain questions that will guide them to make vague predictions about the future. You know, just like the Watchtower.

The 'psychic' i went to didn't like it when i was totally silent during her reading. She wanted me to tell her when she was on the right track. My advice, try not responding to anything they say.

No, demons don't exist. My conscience only bothers me if I hurt others.

Is it a waste of money?

    Yes

That's something I don't understand. To me, it's a bit like professional wrestling. You know it's fake, what's the point? Who cares who wins, it's not a real contest? Why would someone be entertained by someone pretending to read their future? But if that's what you like, go for it! (Same goes for WWE fans)

Damn right, but it's your money!

I've done readings for others, and have had them done for me. While I believe that those with strong psychic abilities do exist, I've not yet met any. Whenever I did a reading, I relied on my powers of observation, and a bit of intuition, to figure out who the person was, and where they were headed in their lives. I would then gently guide them toward a peaceful way of achieving their goals and breaking out of unproductive ruts. When I've gone for readings for myself, I've gone with the attitude that, while this person can't actually see my future, she may, from her different perspective, see aspects of my situation that I'd been missing.

And no, I have never felt the presence of demons, nor angels for that matter, at a reading.

I do readings on the side for cash. I've seen too many things not to believe in it. I have never asked questions to find out about a person to "make" a reading happen. I always had the person sit there quietly and the only participation that was given was to cut the deck. I wouldn't allow any comments or questions until the end of the reading so it wouldn't affect anything and just used intuition. However I do believe that there are a lot of people out there that use leading questions and observation to try to make others believe in them and waste their cash.

Do you think that they are demonized or that it's against your conscience to go to one? Is it a waste of money?

I think 99.9% of the time, it's a complete waste of money. One of my co-workers was enthralled with psychic readings, especially after a former boyfriend of hers committed suicide. We were at a fair and she asked a psychic if he was "at peace". The psychic lady assured her that he was and that he's sorry that he did himself in. (what else is she going to say?)

Anyhoo, my friend really wanted me to try it, so a few weeks later, we went to a psychic. I put a wedding ring on (even though I'm not married) and gave myself 3 kids to boot. Without asking me any questions, this psychic woman said she could "feel" my late husband's presence and he wanted to assure me that he was fine and that he loved me and the kids. I let her finish and then said "that's really interesting......seeing as I've never been married and I don't have any kids!!" She was embarassed and angry that I exposed her and then get this: she said she was sensing my "future husband" and that something tragic was going to happen, blah, blah, blah...........kinda like hearing the explanation as to why Armageddon hasn't shown up yet. You may think this was not a nice thing to do, but to me, if she really were psychic, she would KNOW that I wasn't married.

While I believe that there could be a life beyond this one, I am very skeptical of those who claim they can commute with the dead. I have yet to see anyone display the talent that would give some credence to their claims.
