The Paramount Pictures' adaptation of the famous book by E.B. White, which will be a mixture of animation and live action, is due for release in 2006. The movie will be filmed in Williamstown, in Melbourne's south-west, and in Greendale, in western Victoria, with production scheduled to start in late January. Victorian premier Steve Bracks said it was a "great coup for Victoria". "A major international production of Charlotte's Web, is going to be the important remake, the definitive remake," Mr Bracks told reporters in Melbourne. "I am very pleased this has been secured for Victoria and I think it's going to be great for the (local) film and TV industry." He said they had major competition from the United States, Canada, New Zealand and other states in Australia. Charlotte's Web is the story of an affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur who befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. A prancing, playful bloke, Wilbur is devastated when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary animal and should be saved. Charlotte's Web is to be directed by Gary Winick. Susannah Grant, who wrote Erin Brockovich, penned the script with revisions by Karey Kirkpatrick. Victoria will also be the location for the movie version of Marvel's Ghost Rider. |
Hmm.....
Maybe a combo of "Babe" and "Chicken Run" to spice up "Charlotte's Web"? Then again, one could always work in Spongebob somewhere too...

Okay, I hope the new version of Charlotte's Web is better than the old animated one. My wife wanted to see it, so we rented it. It got too irritating to watch.
Whoever wins, we all laugh.
Ummm... maybe Forrest was amusing... but wasn't Carl a murderer?
Just a thought,

Valis,
I loved reading the story Charlotte's Web to my kids - so will look out for the film. I just love childrens' fiction - but that's not surprising having read to all four of my kids for years.
Eyeslice
eyeslice, I'm waiting for this one to come out, but I have no illusions that I will at some point have to view the new Charlotte's Web w/my chickens. They have the original video and given the opportunity would gladly watch it until you no longer felt sorry for the pig. Your interests suddenly shift to hamhocks and short ribs.
Sincerely,
District Overbeer
