How much increase could they absorb?

Since most congregations have sufficient elders and MS, I was wondering what size increase in numbers in a small amount of time would cause them trouble?

Imagine if everybody that's DF'd would all go back to the hall at the same time. That would surely be a huge headache for them. Imagine if 2 or 3 million DF'd all went back to the halls at once.

That would be a good trick to play.

I think they gotta worry more about a sudden decrease.

I gotta agree with MJ, it'd be great if the all *stopped* attending. Pay the society this months payment on the kh loan? We can't; our members suddenly disappeared! hahaha <ahem>

Actually, on your point, I would not want to give them anything to brag about by going... Besides, even if we did go, they'd just pull out the folding chairs and 'welcome back the stray sheep'. Provided, of course, that we acted like whipped puppies and remembered our place.

I'm afraid to go back. Jesus may make his appearance at the same time I ventured into the KH..

For something like this to properly be tested 2 or 3 million would not only have to go back, but order loads of litterature, not pay for it, and then disappears after about 3 or 4 months.

Would be interesting to watch the congregants scramble to pick up the tab for all that litterature ordered and dispensed after the WT invoices them.

Surely, they won't be tempted to dip into the "worldwide fund" to pay congregation expenses.

I am sure that they could cope with a huge increase. Those of us older ones remember the days when there were very few in the congregations but still all the jobs got done. Sisters did the accounts, I gave my first public talk at 18 years old! Recently, I served in a 3rd world country were I was field service overseer, school overseer, took a group study and did either the public talk or Watchtower every week. The point is, if needs be, running congregations can be done by a relatively few willing individuals.

There is just one problem with your question; Increase? It just aint going to happen!

The only increase that truly interests the WT$ is in their bank accounts.

Trust me - they would absorb the increase gladly and it would not cause too many headaches - it is decrease that worries them
