How dissapointed would you be?
What/who would you miss most?
Would the work so many had started (Silentlambs, Randy, Kent, Simon, Lee Elder et al) be able to carry on in any meaningful way?
Would the drift away from the Society begin to slow down or has the damage already been done?
If the internet died tomorrow would you feel isolated!?
Would you have friends you could talk to as freely as you can here?
Would you suffer withdrawal?

The Code Red worm virus, which has already overloaded the White House website, is expected to hit again at midnight tonight.
Code Red has already caused widespread panic, with national news programmes and even tabloid newspapers getting in on the act. The FBI have issued an official warning which pleads companies to act on the virus, named after a popular soft drink in the States, apparently drunk by computer programmers. The virus has already overloaded the official Whitehouse.gov site with distributed packet floods and is expected to spread worldwide. It affects Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems, but users with Windows '98 or '95 are thought to be safe. It is presumed that the virus attacks in the first 28 days of the month, then lays dormant until the first of the next month - this is so the virus will not die when it comes to February.

Well, all of Oceania and Southeast Asia has passed into the dreaded d-day hours ago, and the world there seems to still be standing. Europe is less than 2 hours away.

But seriously, I love Code Red..its a cherry version of Mountain Dew. I work as a web designer and i do drink a lot of it.
This is exactly why it is wrong for one company to monopolize the industry. If there is a small hole in their OS, then POW! One cleverly programmed virus takes down all the systems. This is why there is diversity in biological life. That way one virus will not wipe out an entire species.
Our company was already hit by a virus called SirCam and we repaired our systems but took an entire day.

I'd be pretty disappointed for two reasons:
a) it IS the best way to get information out about the society cheaply (anyone can setup a web site given some time)
b) I'd be out of work because it's what I do for a living
I've patched all that I can and am waiting for the Code Red monster to pass be by (gulp)
