    1st timothy 2 vs 14

14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner

oh, ok, so Adam wasn't deceived by the woman, lol  so hes so innocent? that makes him a bigger idiot than she.

    you woman hating b@#$%*s

I like how they go from vs 8 talking about prayer right into  controlling women, wow who added that crap!

    then we have this dash

15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

there is a lot of text missing here  who knows what else was said.   so who 'they' are we have no idea.

oh we were saved through childbearing, ok so were the men, without us they don't exist, lol

Oh yeah that's how the GB want women, barefoot and pregnant and keeping their mouths shut 'I do not permit a woman to teach'!

Somehow we are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world because Eve was deceived. So Adam was not deceived and wilfully disobeyed but still men can be the head of the house?  It must be because I am so emotional and illogical that I can't understand this.

Women should shut up in church: 1 Corinthians 14:34-36

Women should wear a head covering on their heads in church: 1 Corinthians 11:3-6.

I think it is very easy to mis-read the words of Paul, we think he is writing to the whole "Church" and making rules for all to follow.

This is to read his letters with WT and fundamentalist christian Specs on.

Paul was writing to friends of his in a congregation he had founded and lived amongst, and replying to a particular problem that they had, not the whole of the christian fellowship.

The words to the Corinthian ( non-jewish) christian women are pertinent, they were used to the shambolic goings on in their local Temple, Paul is urging them to be more like Jewish christian women in conduct,so as not to cause a rift with Jewish christian men in Corinth. He is not writing rules for all. Certainly not for the 21st century !

Again with the words in Timothy, we must look at the time in which he lived, and how women were viewed by Jews, Greeks and Romans,we cannot understand these verses in isolation, but must consider what he wrote about there being no difference between Slave, Freeman, Jew , Greek, Barbarian, or.Male and Female, for "all are one in Christ".

    sowhatnow:

According to the 1954 Watchtower, October 15, pg.627, both were deceived by Satan.

See the bottom part of par.11

    .
"11 If they were faithful and obedient to the Creator they would live forever on the earth in peace with all the things that their hearts would desire. But, although they were perfect in body and mind, they were as yet untried, and God gave them the opportunity of proving their obedience to him under test. He gave Adam the command, saying: “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Gen. 2:16, 17) Did they prove faithful under this test? The Bible record shows they did not. In Genesis chapter 3 there is described the failure of first the woman and then the man to keep God’s commandment, and they ate of the forbidden fruit of the tree. Who was it that deceived them? The record speaks of a serpent, but there must have been some invisible superhuman power behind the serpent’s actions. We shall see in a moment who that invisible power was."

What does it mean that women will be "saved" through childbearing (1 Timothy 2:15)?

'The most likely interpretation that takes into account the immediate context is that, rather than abandoning their intended roles by demanding teaching and authoritative positions in the church, women will find true fulfillment through childbearing. Paul is saying God calls women to be faithful, helpful wives, raising children to love and worship God and managing the household wisely (1 Timothy 5:14;Titus 2:3–5). While this view is not without its difficulties, it appears to harmonize best with the context and with the remainder of Scripture.'

This is the traditional Christian view of this scripture which the JWs adopted. Not difficult to understand at all. Women should be at home looking after their husband, having babies and keeping their mouths shut. Paul's infamous misogyny.
