Giving admonition via Watchtower writing department...

  Along the lines of Old Soul's plea to afin, and afin's in abiltily to provide scriptual guidance/proof/support for Old Soul's questions; I began to think.

  Have you ever given guidance/support/councel with the written publications because there were no scriptures?

  I know I did. When I was a mini-servant around 1984, there was a "brother" who would brag about his oral sex encounters with his new wife. I knew it was "wrong" (also a little crude), but I coundn't find a scripture for the councel. What did I do? I grabbed the Watchtower/Awake to prove it to him that it's wrong to have a great time in bed.

  That inspired word just eluded me...

  Yes, I am ashamed to say. Often. On many topics. Until I learned better, I crapped in my pants and walked around oblivious to the stench just like all the other Witnesses?.

  well since the FDS are a modernday prophet, they why shouldnt we be able to prove things from the bible, though not FROM the bible... from the inspired publications. that's one of the ways we stay united as a brotherhood. through the wonderful writing department.

  Yes, I would have to admit. Furthermore , I saw it done all the bloody time by others, too!

  Don't you know that everything is based on the Bible? It says so right here in my Watchtower!

  My mom sold me on so many of those issues that were 100% WTS teachings, not the bible. Pure crapola!

  As of 2002 they no longer claim prophet status, although they did claim prophet status for MANY years. (w02 10/1 p. 17 paragraph 22)
