Wiccans cannot be proper marriage counselors according to Christian woman

A very good friend of mine sent me a link to a message board where a practicing Wiccan was criticized for her beliefs. This is what one fine Christian woman says about her.......

'XXXXXX', I was talking to my pastor about XXXXXX being a 'Wiccan' and he warned me, as a Christian, to NEVER take marital advice from someone involved with this CULT.

Anyone can decide for themselves but that is what he told me.

Then she posts this long ass article that her pastor gave her about the perils of Wicca. If anyone wants the rest of the article I will pm it to you. It's really long and funny but I did not think it was worth taking up so much board space.

Here is a snippet of this "serious" article:

Wicca is the name, and witchcraft is the game--and the Devil is laughing his head off. It's time to examine some more paganistic mumbo-jumbo gumbo. Into darkness we go to discover the evil force that mascarades behind the name Wicca...

Wicca witchcraft calls itself "white witchcraft". This supposedly denotes that Wiccans only do "good" witchcraft. As I see it,

the witches in Wicca have been watching too much Bewitched,
the witches in Wicca have been watching too much I Dream of Jeannie,
the witches in Wicca having been watching too much Sabrina the Good (or Teen) Witch, and
the witches in Wicca having been watching too much Casper the Friendly Ghost.
According to the Bible, there is no such thing as a good witch.

Hence, based on the Bible, ALL witches are wicked--including Wiccans. So Christian...if unholy-wood and a bunch of confused Wiccans tell you that white witches are good, who are you going to believe? Them or the Bible? Just because

a Wiccan believes fairy stories and legends of the Grail don't mean that a Wiccan is harmless or good.
Just because Wiccans gather herbs and dance naked in the moonlight don't mean they are good.
Just because Wiccans worship the Great Mother and are into the earth don't mean that they are good or harmless.
We define good or bad in relation to the Bible and the Bible ALONE.

Fortunately she was blasted by other board members before the thread was locked.

Looks like "marriage counseling" hit a nerve with the Fundies.

This doesn't surprise me, Wiccan is very empowering to the female side of nature - a direct threat to the Paulians (oh, I meant to say "Christains" of the world).

EZ3 of the false nose class...

The divorce rate in the US is at a staggering 60%. I don't think I'd take marital advice from any religious clergy because It's obviously not helping.

Thats funny I have many wiccan friends and the priest who we were handfasted by has one of the strongest marriages I know of, and none of the people I know dance naked in the moonlight or were inluenced by I dream of jeanie or any other such horsesh*t. Its funny what some people will believe when they dont even bother to do any real research about the real facts-April

It sounds as if this woman had a similar mindset to one of my co-workers, who recently tried to evangelize me. They began by asking questions such as "Do you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God?" (answer: No more so than sacred writings of other cultures), "Do you believe Jesus died for your sins? (answer: he may have died, but not for MY sins), etc. I asked why I should accept the truthfulness of HIS chosen book, the King James Bible, over, say, the Rig Veda (whats that?), the surviving legends from Greece and Rome, etc. His reply was that I had to have FAITH. So I asked, Ok, why should I have faith in YOUR book over any other? Do you really believe that God ONLY spoke to the Hebrews, and ignored the WHOLE rest of the world? At that point, he got stuck in the same groove and kept repeating that I must have faith, over and over. He seemed completely incapable of wrapping his mind around the idea that cultures outside of Palestine could have any relationship with deity.

Absolutely - marital advice should only be taken from trained counsellors or those with experience - you know, for example, single, virgin, elders.
